Epilogue – A New Beginning
One ship sails East, and another West, by the self-same winds that blow, tis the set of the sails and not the gales, that tells the way we go. ~ Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Alexandra stood holding in her hands the golden athamae of HeKet. Flames billowed around her. The bejeweled colors of the gems that embellished the athamae dispersed a brilliant light throughout the darkened cavern. She faced the glowing fires which ravaged what she believed could only be the depths of Underworld. Yet her reign had surely not ended, for it had never a chance to begin. She captured her reflection in a mirror she passed as she tried to figure out where she was. Her hair flowed luxuriously down the curvature of her back in ringlets of golden red. It was if touched by the very fires that had burned and scorched her flesh. Her skin now opalescent and newly born like that of pure talc; her eyes the iridescent color of cornflower blue. Adorned in a gown of sapphire she held the athamae near her heart, in remembrance of those she left behind.
She Whispered confused verging on angry, “Where am I? Am I dead, is this what it is like? If I am not dead then what has happened to me?”
“Alexandra, in time you will come to understand that it was not your time to pass from the earthly plane. Fate has been altered. Because of this, you must remain with me until the sun becomes the moon and the stars align with dawn. Only then will you be able to depart from this world and pursue your destiny.”
“Am I dead?”
“As you have been taught, you are incapable of dying in the way of a mortal.”
“Was it not true that my fate was to release this dreadful curse?”
“Indeed. But, alas tis not your time, your quest cannot be carried out alone. You will learn, patience is a virtue well kept. Until it becomes time to fulfill your destiny you will stay here. I will instruct upon you those things Stephanos failed to honor. ”
“Why must everyone speak to me in riddles?
“It is the way of the gods, the way of the ancients within the powers that be.”
“Where is here? And who exactly are you?”
“You know who I am.”
“Humor me.”
“Very well – I am your grandmother’s sister. HeKet daughter of Haides, goddess of the Underworld, and you are now my ward.
“And what of the others? What has become of them?”
“You needn’t concern yourself with such things. Knowing your destiny awaits you and with that, undying love is all but that should concern you.
“For when the sun becomes the moon and the stars align with dawn, the beast will rise to power; as the daughter of light converges with the daughter of the night – Benandanti.”
Benandanti – Rise to Power – Book Two
Stay posted and cross your fingers that The House of Thoth finds a home with an Agent or publicist, who finds a publisher willing to publish this novel. While the book can stand alone, it was written with a sequel in mind. I started writing the second book a while ago and hope to begin posting chapters of the sequel “Benandanti – Rise to Power” soon. The goal for the novels has shifted from merely getting the books to print but to also bringing awareness and hopefully funding for rare Motor Neuron Diseases – Specifically, Progressive Bulbar Palsy. If you would like more information please read the post, “How are We Doing out in CyberSpace?” posted a few weeks back. This post will give you information about the urgency for us to get the book to print and our work toward finding someone who will publish this novel. It is our wish to donate a percentage of the books sales toward our cause. I know this money won’t help me, but hopefully someday there will be enough money available in the fund we set up from book sales and photography sales (please see www.landlimages.com) to fund our cause, and at the very least find medications that will slow the progression of this horrendous disease.
Please keep your eyes open as I will be starting to release chapters from Book Two Benandanti – Rise to Power very soon. I will set up a link on this webpage and our photography webpage and blog, so you will be sure to find the book.
Thanks for all of your support and time reading this Novel – I hope that you enjoyed it. Your comments or questions are welcome you may send them through this blog or via my email address at LAEdwards@landlimages.com
Thanks again. Sincerely,
LA Edwards
BROVO!!!! I really enjoyed the first book. Couldn’t wait for the chaptors to be released. You had me hooked from the beging. You can count on me to be one of the first to buy the book Will be looking for the second to start all over again. You should be VERY proud in what you have accomplished.:)
Thank you so much for the most humbling comments. I am looking into self publishing on Amazon.com but unfortunately, it is VERY expensive to publish this way and we haven’t the funds available to go this route. It would be great however, as Amazon.com would sell the book online or it can be purchased for the e-reader of choice. I am going to try to send it to agents, who because of the quantity of pages, will likely pass and say no one will read it. I hope that I can get enough positive comments from the hundreds of people that are currently reading the book world-wide to sway their decision. Only time will tell, and sadly time for me is a virtue. If it is in the cards it will happen. Thanks again for your support in me and for taking time to read my book. Most sincerely,
LA Edwards
